Individuality

When people no longer affect you, when circumstances no longer affect you, you are a master. You go about seeming reality in a sea of tranquility; your equilibrium is not disturbed. Then, you must understand, then you are truly a master, the captain of your ship, the captain of your feelings, the captain of your heart.

You experience life without being affected by the circumstances that life presents to you. Neither people nor circumstances affect you. Then you are the master of what you experience, rather than being in constant inner turmoil. You go about your business peacefully. You’re no longer the pawn of people’s whims. And you’re no longer driven by emotion. This state of being must be attained and maintained because by the simple law of attraction, when you are peaceful, peace comes to you from without. When you no longer perceive lack, abundance comes to you from without. When you no longer require people’s acceptance and approval, people no longer manipulate and control. Life becomes a controllable
experience.

The problem upon the planet now is the people’s perceived needs for everything. Advertising has run amuck. In previous times advertisements on a flat page didn’t affect you unless you had a particular need for that product. Advertising didn’t sway your life. But with the advent of television, you’re shown what you need, and the brain responds to visual and audio input. Notice that people wear their hair the same way; they all look alike. They look like clones, and if you look like this, you’ll be accepted. The same for vehicles, and it goes on and on, endless presentations of what is acceptable. There is no more individualistic way to look, or way to think. Individualism has gone by the boards.

These images are indeed what somebody else projects as acceptable attire, looks. It takes away man’s hu-manity. The spirit no longer rules the feeling of independence. And all it really is is a plea for acceptance. “If I wear the right clothes, if I drive the right vehicle, if my hair is done a certain way, if I use the right shampoo…” It’s creating a flock of sheep. They’re all going to look the same, walk the same, think the same, and act the same. It is the loss of independence, the loss of freethinking. That’s no longer a viable idea. It is as though they’re all in an army, and it’s creating a lower mentality. Freedom is as freedom thinks. So then where is the freedom – do you get my drift? Then you’re only a step higher than the apes.

You were created to expand whom you really, really are – out to the world. Where is that divine spark, that individual reflection? What is it about? What does it hold? What is its potential? It is like a diamond shining on the beach. This sameness does not bring that forth. It does not engender or facilitate individual growth. If you’re different, you’re scorned. If you think differently, you’re crazy. This is why you must come into this sea of wholeness, that the opinion or approval of those outside of yourself is meaningless, a no-thing. And there are fewer and fewer sparks of individuality, that exploration of self. So then one exists, one doesn’t live.

Sameness is boring. And a child comes in with that leaping in the air, saying “I AM!,” and as he is hewn to fit in with society, all the spark is gone, all the joy is gone. They’re all walking to the same drummer. I enter into equal partnerships, and boring I’m not. Non-inventing I’m not. Droning along I’m not. I AM! There’s an excitement in that, a freedom in that. There’s a joy in that. I guess that’s why man perceives genius as aberrant behavior. They don’t fit the mold. If they did, they wouldn’t be genius, would they? Look at Einstein; he looked looked like a bum, especially after his wife died. He didn’t care because he was dwelling in a world of his own making. To do the other makes you subservient to man’s whims and indeed subservient to advertising agencies.

So you see, what’s in is in, I’d rather be out! There’s no more genius. Just a bunch of clones and sameness. It’s the different ones who go down in history, who grab the challenge and persist and achieve. So you’re controversial, so what? Don’t let anyone dictate your mores of living. God, what a loss.

Yeah, God is lost, [since (he)] can’t enter into something like that. Give Me a Picasso who looks at life in a screwy way. The creative drive can’t exist in that smothering environment, and all in the guise of acceptance, of being accepted.

So vivre la difference. Be different. Stand out. Don’t follow the crowd, it’s crowded and boring. Better to be alone and excited about life and your participation in it.
